How does poetry share and connect us with the emotions and experiences we all have as humans?

Humans all have feelings and emotions that have been obtained through many experiences. Everyone can fill up their tank of emotions but at one point you need to release it. People release their emotion in many forms such as physically or verbally, etc. A modern day example of expression can be though poems and music. A few well known icons of expression are Prentice Powell, and Katy Perry.
"The system" is one of Prentice Powells known poems. He expresses his emotion in a angry tone using experiences and explains modern day society. For example, he uses a oxymoron in his line, "Your purse is not hot if its a full edition and we are in winter". He is most likely speaking that society cares more about what is valuable rather than what is needed. He also uses a example that proves his point and expresses it in a harsh manner, "And as long as your kids have Jordans on their feet it is okay if they have to eat Top Ramen for a week for dinner your check is in the mail." These lines most likely are based on his past experiences or what he has lived through. Maybe not specifically him living through it but maybe the things he has seen this modern generation.
"Hot and Cold" is one of Katy Perrys hit songs along with "Dark Horse", these songs used many literary devices. In the song Hot and Cold, her chorus uses constant paradoxes such as, "you're hot then you're cold" this represents that the person is mad then chilled down. Anyone can presume that this song was made to release emotion of love to the person she appointed it to. In Dark Horse, she uses Allusion in the lines, "Make me your Aphrodite" as referring to Greek Mythology. She is appointing to the lover to make her his wife basically.
In conclusion, famous poets, singers, and even regular people release emotion based on past experiences. Whether it is bad or good experiences, you can learn to make out of it through types of expression. In this case, Prentice and Katy expressed it through poetic and song form.

How does the past, present, and future lead us to the truth?

Life can be hard for everyone and problems and obstacles are pretty inevitable. But that is where it leads us to now, the present. "it's better to know now than to keep waiting" is a common phrase said among society and it states the truth. A common example is being lied too for however long, perhaps a month. You would think it's all okay till you find out. The longer that person lied the longer the pain has buried deep into your soul and once you know it will hit you like a truck. Knowing earlier will still hurt you, but at the same time you can use that time to recover from whatever happen. One simple action can change your future.
In history, besides america, Asia and Europe would be in danger in the world wars due to the Axis trying to control. If it weren't for the Allies, half the world would be under the hands of Hitler, Mussolini, and The imperial army. This is the past, but actions have back then have changed the future for the people living through that specific time period. It has changed the present because now Asia and Europe do not have to worry about being invaded. As stated before, one action can lead to another. For example, whenever Japan invaded Malaysia. Malaysia was once a british colony, the british fled because of the imperial army leaving Malaysia to be conquered by Japan. This lead to deaths, and also led to the independence of Malaysia after the world war due to the anger of being betrayed by the English. Truth is, the Axis could not have what they wanted and this puts us in present which means half the world is not conquered.
Historically, Germany's economy was pretty low back then, a theory used to improve economy is to start a war. That is what Hitler tried doing and it failed horribly. Bush tried doing the same by going over to Iraq hoping it will boost American economy and that didn't work. And same with Obama, he is planning to travel to Iraq to fight ISIS as an excuse hoping to raise the economy for America. This is the present and no one knows it will work. But based on the past, it has failed horribly. Honestly, the truth is is that this theory will not be proven to work even till this day.
This chain reactive theory has been going on ever since the world wars, and maybe even before that. Not everything works out and we cannot have everything we want and this is what it tells us now. In conclusion, the past, present, and the future are all inter connected with what we do. One mistake can lead to another, or one good decision can lead to another. However you perceive it as, the moral is is that everything can lead to another whether good or bad. Life is a chain reaction and it can lead to a bad truth or a good one.

Oedipus Rex

As we dive into class in english, we came across on reading a greek story about a king called Oedipus Rex. Oedipus Rex was about a lost son that was given to a sheperd due to the paranoia that his father had of him. He was told a oracle that his son will betray him, kill him, and marry his own wife. And honestly, that seems pretty vile, disgusting, and backstabbing. But sadly it does come true, this is not the whole story because there are more things to come in between.
This story was pretty funny in my opinion considering how ignorant Oedipus the fool can be. Killing his own dad without knowing is one thing, but how dumb can you be as to coming across that. But then again, his own father attempted killing him. I also think its a double smack in the face to come across and marry Jocasta, the queen of Thebes after killing your dad. Its also a triple smack to the face once you find out its your own mom. The one that gave birth to you and share the same blood. WOW. Lets get real, thats the most whackiest thing that you can come across.
Once hes officially made the king. All of the disasters come across like the storm, Creon and the people try to convince Oedipus of what he did such as following the prophecy that was told to his dad Liaus. As stubborn as Oedipus can be he obviously doesnt give into it and is pretty hard headed to convince. This leads to Creon and the people to become angered and have more energy and anger to over throw Oedipus as king so all the disasters will stop.
The writer, Sophlaces must've been very creative to come up with a play like this. Overall I think that the story was very awesome and intriguing and I hope to come to more plays like this. The way I see this story was a interesting and most wack story version of a incest. But then again, it is just a play and very humourous. It does show that a persons ignorance can somewhat be the blame for their actions.

Fitzgerald Exit Ticket Reflection

Fitzgerald represents the story with many subliminal humourous messages such as making fun of religion, youth, and riches. For instance, the village of fish are represented by 12 men called the 12 men of Fish. These people are a cult and do not believe in religion. Supposedly they are a opposite of what religion is because of their beliefs. A relation could be the Ku Klux Klan because they are claimed to be christian yet discriminate peoples skin colour, etc. Youth is made of a joke in the story because Percy, a rich adolescent boy has the behaviour of a ten year old. I say that because of how much he has too brag about and the author makes him sound like a snobby boy. Riches is also made fun of because of he assumes his dad is the most richest boy, and how he exaggerates on how big his diamonds are.

Great Gatsby Reflection

The movie was pretty good. I think that daisy was a tramp-ish type of person because of the way she played Gatsby wrong. Of course Gatsby did her wrong also by finessing the plug on her so early and dipping and leaving her for a couple of years. But her morals were as low as the core of the earth. She had no feelings whatsoever on Gatsby after his death. Also the movie had many symbols such as ecklebergs eyes, riches, etc. It had a very twisted ending.

American Dream

The american dream was a idea based on the 1920s. Many people describe it as being rich, educated, partying all day, etc. Many people have their different point of views on what is considered  a american dream. My opinion on it is that it is supposed to be concerned on education and making cash. Which is what exactly was shown on the Great Gatsby. Both Nick and Gatsby had attended some sort of school and gatsby had riches. Obviously Nick didn't have the great riches that Gatsby did but this shows that they lived that dream.

1920's Story

In the 1920's, all I see is the caucasians people heart, emotion, laughs filled with joy in the cities of the power state of New York, the city that literally never sleeps because of how tightly packed and filled the city is. In my vision, as the caucasian people laugh I just see their quintessential grandeur, they were like the moguls to the state of New York considering there was more of them than blacks, hispanics, asians, etc. I see occasional black people but they weren't as symbolic or popular to the state of new york like the caucasian people. Unlike the people who always had their fancy suits and ties. White people were the significant people of the 1920's . ( No racism intended )

Richard Parker real or not?

Martel made Pi seem like he was very deranged and uncivilized throughout his journey. Obviously his journey on the boat made him seem that way considering he has animals on his boat, middle of no where, etc. The tiger symbolizes the wild, which is what Pi was during the journey. The only thing that kept him together was the faith of religions he had. Richard was never a real tiger with him. Richard symbolizes Pi's deranged side without religion. Martels purpose and theme was to always have faith and beliefs in something no matter what it is. Without the morals and principles of religion, Pi would be like the tiger. Therefore, Richard Parker is Pi's side without relgion.

Was Life of Pi a Magical Realism?

Life of Pi was overall a narrator speaking of a Indian boy named Pi in which Pi sees the three major religions of the world through his eyes : Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. Pi went through journeys such as his three family members dying and surviving a pretty long period of time on a boat with animals, and the main one he had to tame was a tiger. Obviously, you wouldn't really believe he had survived in those conditions, but with his common knowledge it makes it believable to the audience. But some people have a opinion whether it's magical realism or not.
Life of Pi was not a magical realism. The purpose for Yann Martel was to express religion as much as express Pi's journey all in one. Pi views the main religion in his eyes and you can notice he nearly uses all three of the religions and principles in the book. For example, not eating meat but he did. Because he had no other choice. The whole setting was very realistic along with the vivid imagery but the main purpose for Martel was also to give people faith to believe in. Pi had faith throughout the journey to keep him up and alive. Without it he would have lost hope by now.
I do agree that there are a few magical realism involved in the story. It is like a story within a story because he explains religions and he explains the religions within it with stories. One thing that may seem unrealistic to every audience besides the Hindus are when he explained that the hindu god had the whole universe in his mouth. This can impart back to the question how religion and storytelling have a correspondence because of how each one has a story within them and different variation. In the end, these are my thoughts on whether Life of Pi was a magical realism or not.

Reader Autobiography

Reading has been known to be very flexible for everyone. From braille to audio listening, these are all forms of reading. Reading is known as a hobby or just a everyday thing for people. Reading helps with everything, such as gaining information or just plain entertainment for everyone. Anyone and everyone can do it, there is no obstacle to block you from doing so.
A reader is someone who actually takes time, passionate, and obviously love the act of learning by reading. I'm not saying to earn this title is read twenty four hours, seven days a week. You can simply be a reader just by knowing knowledge of everyday modern books and reading at least a few book. Enough to say reading is a hobby for you. Therefore, you can consider yourself a reader and have this title. To master reading, you don't just read. You have to actually have imagination and put yourself in the characters point of view, experience it, live the world of the words. Basically, be the book.
Personally, one of my favourites are Yann Martel. His notorious book, Life of Pi. Is a enjoyable book for everyone and perfect to see the main characters point of view. I like how this author actually put subliminal messages into this quintessential book of his. Overall, I have read many books over my lifetime but I cannot consider myself a reader to have that title. I say this because I do not consider it one of my hobbies, or daily thing.Nevertheless, I guess you can say I am a blocked reader. Reading takes skill such as learning it, I learned to read back when I was around 4 years old. Of course, by starting the basics such as pronouncing and learning the alphabet.
I would like to improve myself furthermore in reading by actually put it into my daily routine. Doing this will cause me to be genetically predisposed to a better reader and also being a epitomist at doing it. I like reading expository books, but not the type that has to do with medieval times. These exasperate me because those are the ones I have read most of my life. Furthermore, this experience was pretty painful because I had to remember what types of books I read and had too look at the past. Overall it was great.

Write Self Study

People write to express their thoughts, self reflection, share to others, entertainment, and many various reasons. I write at times to express thoughts and to share information to others. Doing this makes me feel like I have said what I have to say and it is no longer trapped in my chest. Such as doing daily writing in class or making stories for a English projects. You cant just claim that you are a writer, you have to prove it by practicing it and following principles of it.
To be a good writer, you have to have a hook, theme, etc. Basically all the following principles to English literature. But everyones opinion on a good writer is very different based on other people point of view. Some people may not like the specific topic that a writer is writing about. But then again, the writer may aim it towards the type of audience that likes that topic such as the Gaza Massacre caused in Israel. My favorite writers are J.k Rowling because everyone has some a couple of the Harry Potter books. In my opinion, she is a exemplar writer.
I myself do writing whenever I feel the need to write out what needs to be said or when I have the feeling to state the truth. It is not my hobby, so I cannot consider myself a writer. As for a level of being a bad to good. I can consider myself as a decent writer. Although I try to be, all this came from Elementary school from when they first teach you thematic statements, hooks, etc. So I can say that this started from the basis of english.
I am a Passionate writer when it comes to writing. I write very thoroughly when I need too. Something I would want to do better as a writer is do it more often and improve on structure. I like to do persuasive writing and expository writing. The ones I dislike is research papers because unlike the others you have to actually search for what to write about. This experience was pretty fun because I gave my full out thoughts on my opinion on writing. I gained self reflection and satisfaction because I could get this idea of my chest. This process was very swell.

Is it a snake that ate an elephant, or just a hat?

In a snake, due to how it is seen. Audiences wouldnt be to entertained when trying to her a story about a hat unless their is a actually a good amount of interesting background about it. Such as a celebrity promoting the hat, etc. When you hear something about a snake someone automatically becomes interested since its a interesting or scary animal. Now to relate it to the snake swallowing the elephant, the audience finds it much more interesting because of the multiple questions or thoughts that would pop up into their brain. Such as, "how can it swallow a elephant whole?" or "Wow thats amazing!" etc. The hat is just a lifeless factuality because its just a everyday thing you can see. Images can be perceived or heard differently by adding more information. In this case, the information is the yeast to the bread.
